Leathered granite edges. The constant wiping away of smudges fingerprints and remnants of food debris which are usually part of a polished countertop maintenance regimen are almost nonexistent with leathered stone. For leathered granite specifically you can use a hand broom to remove crumbs and dust that may become trapped in the grooves. Leathered granite hides smudges and stains easier than granite countertops that are polished or honed. In fact leathered has the advantage in that it is less maintenance.
In terms of cleaning you can use just soap and warm water to clean any granite countertop. One of the best parts about leathered granite is the way it feels. Our seams are really great we only have two of them though and our granite isn t one with veins running through it so the mottled pattern of our granite helps to disguise the seams even more i think. It doesn t keep fingerprints or smudges like a polished surface does and therefore won t need to be wiped off just to remove finger smudges.
The advantages of leathered granite are many and one that is appealing to homeowners is the almost effortless maintenance with leathered granite. As if it were quarried that day from the side of a mountain leathered granite adds a natural charm to what would be an otherwise overlooked surface.
