Laptop Power Supply Bad On Carpet

I was wondering if i should get a cheap peace of plywood and put it on that or if it didn t really matter.
Laptop power supply bad on carpet. The reason it s a bad thing is that laptops oftentimes vent air through the bottom and carpets and beds too with just about every other soft object can block the airflow causing the laptop to. I m putting together a bottom mounted power supply pc. Thanks for all your opinions in this thread. 1 have it plugged into street power without any power conditioning or suppression.
Doing this will keep it completely grounded until you re ready to actually turn it on. And heat kills electronics. The life of aluminum electrolytic capacitors goes down by a factor of 2 for every 10 additional degrees centigrade approx 18 deg f. The case has a grill under where the power supply is placed.
Second your laptop has fans that turns on and keep your cpu cool you. If the electrical path hits the wrong thing you can fry a part or even the entire motherboard. The worst thing you can do to a computer or laptop. It s generally not a good idea to put a pc tower directly on carpet for three reasons.
It is normal for a power supply to become hot. Your build doesn t have to be fully completed in order for you to be able to safely turn it on to test it. 2 have it plugged in without a top quality battery backup. Merely putting them on a carpet is enough to impede the airflow as there is no longer an empty airspace underneath.
But my floor is berber sp carpet and despite. The power supply is a corsair 550w unit and the fan points faces down. Carpet generates a lot of static from people walking on it. I had planned to place my pc on the floor under my desk.
From what i ve seen my pc should be on a piece of wood. Keep your power supply psu plugged in but turned off. I had an hp power supply that did the same thing.
